Forgotten headlamps end hikes early. Pick your park, the season and who's coming — the list adapts, you tick things off, and the PDF keeps working offline at the trailhead.
Most sequoia groves sit at 5,000–7,000 feet, and the Rae Lakes Loop crosses Glen Pass near 12,000 feet — real altitude for anyone arriving from sea level. The opposite problem waits at the entrances: the foothills around Ash Mountain average near 97°F in July. Carry water for the elevation you're actually hiking at, not the one at the entrance station.
